Who I am
Hello, I’m Charley Clarke. I am an Impact Measurement and Management specialist with 20 years’ experience consulting to impact investing, international development and industrial sectors. I am passionate about helping investors and enterprises design strategy and systems to help achieve and credibly demonstrate impact through their investment portfolios and services.
I have presented and delivered workshops at a wide range of events and conferences on IMM and evaluation, including the European Microfinance Week, the BlueInvest Impact Investing Masterclass, British International Investment’s ESG & IMM workshops for new fund manager partners, SOCAP, SEEP Network, Donor Committee for Enterprise Development, American Evaluation Association.

Thoughtful stakeholder engagement, including putting investees and end customers at the centre is critical to successful ESG and IMM
A fit-for-purpose ESG and IMM system should be designed using established relevant best practice standards, frameworks and guidance, and regulatory standards, as well as emerging consensus and research at the IMM frontier.
The IMM System must be subject to governance and oversight that enables IMM to be elevated to the same level of importance as financial return
IMM is a journey. An IMM system must be relevant and practical to the stage of growth and maturity of the investor and investees, and continually reviewed and updated as new impact data and best practices emerge.
IMM System and impact performance reports should be verified by a third-party, benchmarked with key frameworks and consensus, as well as performance by others in the wider investment ecosystem.
